Ribeye Battle – Philips Airfryer VS. Weber Kettle Grill

On round 3 of Philips Airfryer experimentation weekend I have Ribeye steaks! The absolute best cut! I didn’t want to do them both in fryer, so i decided to battle the cold and throw one of them on the Weber.

I’ll start with the Weber Steak. Pretty standard, i got my lump coal cooking in the chimney and I rubbed down my steak with Traeger Coffee Rub.

My goal for temp on the grill is 500 degrees. If you want the perfect grilled Ribeye, it has to be at least 500. For how cold it was, I’m surprised i hit that temp.

Once i hit that temp, the Ribeye went on right above the coals. 2 minutes, rotate 45 degrees and give a slight pat down (to help with grill marks), 2 minutes flip, 2 minutes rotate 45 degrees, 2 minutes remove from grill. 8 minutes at 500 degrees should give you a nice medium rare.

Meanwhile, back at the Hall of Justice, I was prepping the other steak. As my coals were getting to temp, my fryer was warning up. I rubbed this steak with a Traeger Garlic and Chili Pepper rub.

Once the fryer hit temp, i just laid the steak in the basket and set the timer for 14 minutes at 390 degrees. I flipped it once halfway.

So, both steaks turned out pretty good. I believe you can’t beat a grilled steak so I’m a little biased, but everyone else really liked the fried one saying it was juicer. Give it a whirl and let me know what you like better!

Thanks! Trying to stay warm! It’s almost 30 degrees warmer than when I came to work this morning and it is still -5 outside!
